The Aravolta approach

Aravolta unifies DCIM with BMS, EPMS, ITSM (ServiceNow), and CMDB integrations. Your cooling data, power data, and asset inventory live in one platform with correlated alerting. Integrate via SNMPv3, Redfish, IPMI, Modbus, and BACnet. No data silos, no separate logins, no manual reconciliation.

Many devices like generators, ATS units, fire panels, and cooling towers run on serial or dry contact by design. Aravolta ships a lightweight gateway node with built-in Modbus RS-485, RS-232, dry contact, and CT clamp connections. No separate gateway purchase required. If it has a signal, we connect to it.

Overlay your existing infrastructure

Aravolta connects to your BMS, EPMS, ITSM tools, and equipment using standard protocols. No rip-and-replace. No legacy data loss.

BMS Integration

Pull cooling data from Schneider, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or custom BMS via BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA

EPMS Integration

Ingest power data from your PDUs, meters, and power monitors via SNMPv3 or Modbus

ITSM Integration

Push discovered assets to ServiceNow, Jira, or Cherwell. Bi-directional sync for change management

Equipment Support

Auto-discover servers, switches, PDUs, UPS units, environmental sensors via Redfish, IPMI, SNMPv3

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about DCIM and Aravolta.

What is DCIM software?

DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) is a platform that provides real-time visibility into every layer of your data center: physical assets, power distribution, cooling systems, network connectivity, and compliance. It automates capacity planning, change validation, asset lifecycle management, and compliance reporting in one unified system.

How fast can DCIM be deployed?

Aravolta deploys in ~2 weeks for most facilities. Automated network discovery detects devices in hours. Monitoring templates apply automatically. API integrations with ServiceNow, Jira, and billing systems complete within days. Manual DCIM deployments typically take 6-12 months.

Which devices and protocols does Aravolta support?

Aravolta supports SNMPv3, Redfish, IPMI 2.0, Modbus/TCP, BACnet/IP, OPC-UA, and Syslog. This covers servers (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Supermicro), switches (Cisco, Arista, Juniper), PDUs (Schneider, Eaton, Raritan), UPS units, cooling systems, environmental sensors, and third-party BMS/EPMS systems. Custom drivers available on request.

How does DCIM work alongside my BMS/EPMS?

DCIM overlays on top of BMS and EPMS. Aravolta connects to your existing BMS (pulling cooling data) and EPMS (pulling power data) via standard protocols. Data is unified in one dashboard with correlated alerting. When a chiller fails, you see the power impact and affected tenants instantly. No rip-and-replace needed.

What data does DCIM store and for how long?

Aravolta stores real-time snapshots, 1-minute granular history (1 year), and aggregated daily/monthly data indefinitely. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Retention policies are configurable per data type. Export available in CSV, JSON, or database dump formats for compliance and archival.

On-prem vs cloud DCIM: which should I choose?

Cloud DCIM (Aravolta default) offers faster deployment, zero infrastructure overhead, and automatic updates. On-prem DCIM is available for customers with strict data residency requirements or air-gapped networks. Most organizations choose cloud for DCIM; your BMS/EPMS data can stay on-prem while DCIM lives in cloud.

What's the difference between DCIM and BMS?

DCIM is full infrastructure management (assets, power, capacity, network, compliance). BMS (Building Management System) focuses only on mechanical and cooling systems. DCIM + BMS together give you complete facility visibility. Aravolta unifies both in one platform, eliminating data silos and manual reconciliation.

How does Aravolta compare to Sunbird, Nlyte, or Schneider Electric?

Aravolta deploys 5-10x faster than legacy DCIM platforms (weeks vs. months). It's vendor-agnostic across all equipment and protocols. API-first architecture integrates with modern tools (Slack, Pagerduty, Terraform, Kubernetes). Transparent, per-site pricing with no per-point fees. Sunbird, Nlyte, and Schneider require 3-6 month implementations and charge per monitored device.

What compliance standards does DCIM help with?

DCIM supports HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, NIST 800-53, and FEDRAMP. Aravolta automatically collects evidence (access logs, configuration changes, audit trails) and generates compliance reports. Failed checks trigger remediation workflows. Annual certification validation is built in.

Can DCIM manage GPU and high-density racks?

Yes. Aravolta supports high-density equipment with dense-pack PDU monitoring, per-port power metering, and active power distribution units. GPU systems are monitored for power draw, thermal output, and liquid cooling metrics. Density-aware capacity planning prevents overloading circuits or cooling capacity.
